Tell me about the cover contest.

Pockets has a cover contest every year. We invite kids to draw a picture for the cover of Pockets. Kids send in the drawings, and then one of the drawings is chosen to put on the cover of Pockets magazine. To learn about how to send in your drawing, write us for the cover contest guidelines. Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:

I sent my picture to be included on the Pocketsful of Friends page and I haven't seen it yet. Why not?

We receive many more pictures for Pocketsful of Friends than we can print, but we are always happy to see your pictures and get letters from you. Also, it takes a long time to make an issue of Pockets, so it would be at least seven months from the time you sent your picture until it is printed (and sometimes it is much longer).

What kind of correspondence do you like to get?

We like to see your original work. We like to receive pictures you have drawn, prayers, poems, and short stories you have written. We also like to receive pictures of your friends, your pets, and your family. We even like to see pictures of your friends' pets! We like to know what you are thinking, what you like or don't like about Pockets magazine or our web site, what you worry about and what you dream about. Write us:
The Upper Room Pockets
1908 Grand Avenue
P.O. Box 340004
Nashville TN 37203-0004

We try to answer every letter. As the staff gathers, we pray for each of you, giving thanks for your life and pray that you will always know God cares for you and will always love you.

How do people get to be in the Spotlight on the Club Pages?

The pictures you see in the Spotlight are children who are on the Advisory Board for Pockets.

How can I be on the Advisory Board?

Each year in the April issue there is an application form for kids interested in being on the Advisory Board. We select 18 to 20 members each year. Watch for the application in the next April issue.

What do Advisory Board members do?

They tell us what they like and don't like about a particular issue of Pockets by filling out a questionnaire we send them.

Sometimes we ask them to send us jokes or recipes for Kids Cook. Sometimes we ask them to tell us how they feel about what is happening in the world. They also suggest themes for issues of the magazine.

Advisory Board members tell us what we can do to make Pockets a magazine they and their friends really like to receive and to read.
